Basalt stone blocks, sawn and heat-treated with chipped edges 200×200×30
It is absolutely clear from the name of this paving stone: it is produced by sawing basalt blocks into slabs approximately 20 centimeters wide and 3 centimeters thick. Next, after the milling machine, we process these basalt slabs with special propane torches, at a very high temperature of 1200 degrees Celsius. We also note that a lower temperature is not terrible for basalt at all, which means that the prosperous owners of a black basalt countertop have the opportunity to absolutely safely put pots and teapots from the fire directly on the countertop. After flame treatment, basalt blanks, 30 millimeters thick, are sent to a stone splitting press, where excess stone is chipped off along the edges and the plates are given perpendicular dimensions of 20 centimeters. The edge of each basalt paving slab, after such formatting, has a natural chip.
How beautiful it is to lay sawn-split, French basalt paving stones
Note that the chipped edge and not absolutely straight edges of this type of basalt paving stone are not a minus, but its huge plus! It will be wise to elegantly highlight the natural basalt chip when installing such paving slabs. This can be achieved if the distance between the cobblestones is not filled to the full depth, but at least one centimeter is left unfilled. When laying on a concrete base, which is recommended, it is easy to do this with 3 cm thick slabs.
An additional luxury touch in landscape design with such paving slabs is the skill to highlight the seam. It can be decorated with material from another stone – for example, white marble chips, or red granite screenings.
Delivery of sawn basalt paving slabs – paving stones
We pack this large-format basalt paving stone in euro pallets 1200*800 mm, we always tighten it with a strong packing tape – to guarantee the reliability of the goods during delivery. In the case when you have decided to buy 200×200×30 basalt paving stones in advance, and assume that you will store it at the construction site for 3-5 months before laying. In this case, we strongly recommend carefully wrapping each pack with polyethylene. Thus, the heat-treated surface of basalt will not be too dusty over time.
Basalt is a fairly dense stone, its specific gravity is greater than that of granite. And the density is 3000 kg per 1 cubic meter. If we imagine it differently, we get the mass of 1 meter of the area of basalt paving slabs 200 × 200 and 30 millimeters thick – 90 kg. That is, in a car with a carrying capacity of 22 tons, it will be possible to place 240 m2 of such paving stones. And remember, for unloading at your site for such amazing paving material, it is best to avoid manual labor, and use machinery: a crane or a truck with a manipulator.
