Tumbled granite setts with a thickness of 3 cm made from Gabbro stone are an ideal solution for creating the atmosphere of an old European town at an exceptionally attractive price. Gabbro features a dark grey to black colour, and an even deeper black appearance can be achieved by applying a stone sealer with a wet-look finish after installation.
How we produce these granite setts:
- First, large Gabbro blocks are cut on industrial stone saws into slabs with a thickness of 10 cm.
- These 10 cm thick slabs are then cut lengthwise into strips 10 cm wide. This process ensures that the side faces of the future setts are perfectly straight and smooth.
- The strips are fed into a hydraulic stone-splitting press, which splits them into setts 30 mm thick (with a standard top surface size of 10×10 cm). During the splitting process, the natural textured top and bottom surfaces of the stone are created.
- In the final stage, the setts are placed in a large tumbling drum. As the drum rotates, sharp edges and corners are gently rounded off, giving the stone a naturally aged appearance reminiscent of historic paving found in old European towns and city centres.
Thanks to this precise sequence of manufacturing processes, we obtain refined tumbled Gabbro setts. The split and tumbled top surface provides excellent walking comfort and remains completely slip-resistant in all weather conditions. The softened edges create the impression that the stone has adorned the squares and streets of historic European cities for centuries.
